Bosch spin-on filters
Filter heads
We offer a number of different filter heads suitable for use with Bosch type spin-on filters. These filters screw onto the filter head by means of an M16 thread cut into the centre port of the filter canister. The seal between the filter and head is integral to the filter.
Universal vertically mounted filter head
This filter head is made from cast aluminium. The head has two elongated holes, 5cm apart, suitable for 10mm bolts, allowing the filter to be mounted aginst a verticle serface.
The filter head has five M14x1.5 threaded ports and one M6x1 threaded port. The M14 ports are located one inlet on either side and three outlets, one either side and one on the top. The M6 port is located on top of the filter dirty side of the media, suitable for air bleeding.

M14 blanking plug - to be used with a sealing washer
M14 sealing washers - two required for each banjo connection.
Universal vertically mounted double filter head
This filter head is made from cast aluminium. The head has two elongated holes, 5cm apart, suitable for 10mm bolts, allowing the filter to be mounted aginst a vertical serface The head is drilled internally so that fuel flows through the filters in parellel. This halves filter restriction compared to using a single filter.
The filter head has two M14x1.5 threaded ports and two M6x1 threaded port. The inlet M14 port is located on the right hand side and the outlet on the left. The M6 ports are located on top of the filter dirty side of the media, suitable for air bleeding.

VW filter head
Direct replacement filter for most Volkswagen group diesel engines (Audi, SEAT and Skoda) along with some Volvo and Ford diesels. This unit will locate in the original filter mounting. In VW group vehicles the original hoses and clips will fit straight onto this filter housing. This filter head is made from cast aluminium with glued brass hose barb connectors.
The head has four barb connection one for fuel inlet from tank, one for fuel out to engine, one for fuel return from engine and one for return to tank.
Barb sizes
Fuel hose in/out barbs mm for 8mm rubber hose
Return hose barbs mm for 8mm rubber hose

Indirect injection VW filter head
Direct replacement filter for many 1980s and 1990s Volkswagen group diesel engines (Audi, SEAT and Skoda). This unit will locate in the original filter mounting. The original hoses and clips of VW group vehicle will fit straight onto this filter housing. This filter head is made from cast aluminium.
The head has two barb connection one for fuel inlet from tank and one for fuel out to engine. It also has a port designed to fit the VW thermal T. The thermal T is designed, when cold, to send the returned fuel from the injection pump to the dirty side of the filter to reduce the amount of fuel required from the tank and to heat the filter assisting against waxing. As the thermal T warms it diverts the returned fuel straight back to the fuel tank. This unit only fits the earlier type thermal T (VW 191 127 247 A) not the later Tdi / Sdi engine thermal T (VW 1J0 127 247 A)

Coolant heat exchanger
The coolant heat exchanger module is made from cast aluminium with glued brass hose barb connectors and rubber seal. The heat exchanger section can be rotated to give the required fuel to coolant hose barb orientation before it is tightened using a hex key in the centre of its retaining adaptor.
This heater will fit any of the filter heads listed on this page.
Coolant heat exchanger modules can be stacked with additional coolant heat exchanger modules or electric heater modules.
Coolant hose barb size 16.9mm to take 16mm rubber coolant hose

Electric fuel heater
The electric fuel heater module is a 12 volt heater unit which draws a maximum of 300 watts. The heater module can be rotated before it is tightened to the filter head with a hax key. The filter comes with a rubber seal to fit between the module and filter head. Electrical connection is by an included superseal connector.

This heater will fit any of the filter heads listed on this page.
Power supply should be provided by a suitably fused and switched by a relay. Supply should either be switched with the power supply to an extended after glow period engine glow plugs or by a temperature switch,
Electric heater modules can be stacked with additional electric heater modules or coolant heat exchanger modules. Best results will be gained by fitting the electric heater below any coolant heat exchanger module.

M14x1.5 threaded temperature switch suitable for fitting to spare filter head ports.
- 60°C normally closed switch
- 45°C normally closed switch
- 72°C closed below 67°C open switch
Hand pump
Diaphragm type pump. Mounts to a M14 port using a banjo bolt and two sealing washers. Has a M14 port. Can be configured for input or output. Rebuildable. This pump requires an extra sealing washers between pump and head on universal single filter heads.
